Media’s Past & Future: Grady captures memories as industries change
April 25, 2009 by Staff
Two Grady College classes, History of American Mass Media and Digital Story Telling, collaborated on this project. With American media at an economic and technological crossroads, we wanted to gather stories — memories/histories — from media practitioners, specifically looking for insight into our rapidly changing industries.
These media workers generously agreed to reminisce about their interesting careers. What was the work like? The first job interview? The biggest challenge? The best moment?
This oral history project combines the past and future. Students used research techniques of historians and considered new ways to tell stories via electronic media. Grady students did the research, conducted the interviews and produced the audio. All of the entries include a short biography, a link to the interview audio and information on the state of the industry.
