University of Georgia Annual Gifts Top $125 M
For the sixth year in a row, the University of Georgia has raised over $100 million in gifts. $30 million of the the total came from the Athletic Association’s ticket sales, according to the Southern Education Desk.
Payne, Kowal, Shealy Selected For UGA Circle of Honor
Former Georgia athletes Billy Payne, Kristy Kowal and Courtney Shealy will be inducted into the Circle of Honor for student athletes on Friday, April 13, 2011, according to WCTV. The Circle awards those that have performed honorably on and off the field.
Ex-Georgia star Isner earns first Slam quarterfinal
For the first time, Former UGA tennis player, John Isner, is in the U.S. Open Grand Slam quarterfinal. Isner, who was a 28 seed, won three tiebreakers to get to the quarterfinal, according to the Atlanta-Journal Constitution.
Running back’s business a ‘labor of love’
Georgia running back, Wes Van Dyk, won UGA’s Next Top Entrepreneur competition last Spring, when he introduced RushEase.com, a website devoted to ease the paperwork nightmare that comes with sorority recruitment. According to the Red and Black, although Van Dyk has to balance his time spent on his business and football, he rarely misses a practice.
